“Secure and Swift: Demystifying HDFC Freedom Credit Card PIN Generation”
To keep the card secure and safe, the credit card PIN plays a vital role. The credit card PIN saves us against any type of financial scams and fraud. Even if the card gets stolen, the PIN cannot be used for any transaction. This is the reason it should be kept confidential so that nobody should know about it. When getting a new credit card like the HDFC Freedom Credit Card, a welcome kit along with the PIN is mailed to the address registered with the bank. It can then be changed with the help of desired modes, i.e. online or offline, as per your convenience.
How to Use Credit Card PIN?
Whenever the cardholder uses the HDFC credit card at any point of sale, the POS machine prompts the cardholder to enter the PIN. After which, the cardholder is required to enter the 4-digit PIN into the POS machine to complete the transaction. In the case of online transactions, the HDFC credit cardholder can choose to complete the transaction either with the help of OTP, PIN, or the MasterCard Secure Code.
At POS Terminals:
- The vendor has to first insert the card at the PIN-enabled POS Terminal.
-
- The cardholder is first required to verify the amount of transaction that is entered.
- A receipt of confirmation will be generated once the PIN is entered and the transaction is completed.
- If the POS terminal supports the PayWave or PayPass feature, transactions up to INR 2000 can be carried out by the cardholder without any need to enter the PIN. The cardholder is just simply required to bring the card closer to the POS machine, and the payment will then be made automatically.
How to Generate HDFC Credit Card PIN?
To start with the new credit card received, one is required to generate the PIN. The card can be activated by generating the Self-Active PIN or Green PIN. - Never ever write down your PIN anywhere or share it with anyone. Also, the same should not be shared over e-mails, SMS, etc.
- The PIN should not be kept as simple as your birth date, parent’s birth date, anniversary date, etc., which can be guessed easily.
- Your PIN should never be saved for the websites where online transactions are made. Also, never auto-save it on the transactional websites.
- Websites that start with “https” should be considered as they are secure.
- Change your PIN on a frequent basis as a precautionary measure.
- Check your account statement for any suspicious activity.
- Don’t keep the same pin for all the cards you own.
